And on the seventh day….
January 17th, 2010 by gergisKhan

I recently had a conversation with my friend Rita, who was pointing out how run down she felt, and how she was really beginning to understand God’s commandment about the seventh day.

I found it very interesting that instead of pointing out that she was tired and had so many things to do at home and so on and so forth, what she said really came down to: “But Sabbath rest is something that requires intense faith, I think. You have to trust God that as you put down your burdens, they are in His hands.”

In other words, after all her meandering she was coming to the place of looking at it from a faith-based, spiritual view, and not at all from a human point of view.

I think this is a very poetic way of looking at things. It is not very much at all about rest. Of course we rest and need rest, and most sane people know when they are tired. I would hope. But this is more about faith. Faith to say that as you TAKE this rest, you will trust God in that your tasks will not become so overwhelming as to consume you.

May you all enjoy a good day of rest. I know I will continue to do so.
